Every time I edit a view in Domino Designer 8.5, I see the following message on the server console.
05.05.2009 07:17:37 Database note open error: NT0000011A document in database d:\Programme\IBM\Lotus\Domino\data\test.nsf opened by CN=Heinz Ulrich Krause/O=Witte/C=de: Attempt to perform folder operation on non-folder note.
This happens on new created databases as well as old ones.
Steps to reproduce
- Create a new database on the server ( 8.5 ). No template assigned
- Open the database in Domino Designer and navigate to the view category
- Double click the “unknown” view to open.
You can also create a new view and save it. Each time you edit a view the error occurs.
Anyone else seen this, too ? I have already created a PMR ( # 61149 668 668 ) with IBM

This is currently under investigation by development.
I have gone ahead and created a customer report for you to add weight to this SPR. This has APAR # LO40706. The more customer reports are added to this the higher the priority this SPR will become.
yep, I see this every day in our logs.
Yes, I’ve seen this as a result of using 8.5 designer. But more annoying is that I get it on my 8.0.2 mail server log throughout the day on every mail file that my Blackberry server writes to. You’ll find some references to this from other people in the Lotus forums. In my case, if you look at the note ID referenced in the error message, it is always the design note of the sent view.
I opened a ticket with RIM, but they have been unable to reproduce the problem.
There are no negative effects that I am aware of, but it is annoying. If anyone has a solution, please let me know!

IBM could not reproduce the Designer error with pure Domino 8.5 but with 8.5HF1.
And I saw the error on a server running 8.5HF211 as well.
Thanks, Ulrich, for the references. It looks like I have exactly the same problem that you had. Your solution was to upgrade BES, but I’m using the most recent version of Blackberrry Professional Server, and there is no upgrade available for it.
I’m surprised that there aren’t more references to the ‘non-folder’ note in the Lotus Forums and knowledgebase. I wonder if there is something about our server environments that cause or contribute to this problem?
This happens running old Designer versions on Domino 8.5, as well. It happens to one developer, but not the other. I can see this becoming a bigger issue, and hope IBM issues a fix real soon – cuz it’s filling up logs!
