Our company ( an automotive supplier ) will close for almost 4 week from mid december on due to the global financial crisis.
As a result, all employees have to spend their remaining days of vacation for the plant shutdown. So there are no days left for my planned trip to Lotusphere 2009.
I intended to stay the week before Lotusphere in Jamaica together with my SWMBO, then attend Lotusphere the next week, and return to Jamaica for another week before flying back home.
All trips are cancelled now. Sad day today …
Sad to hear.
I’ve bought ticket to Santiago de Chile 8. – 28. of january 2 weeks ago and we (2 locals and me) are looking for allocation for 12 days around La Serena. Am a bit worried that this will be the southern cone equivalent for July in Mallorca … we will see. Desperatedly need holydays. Hadn’t have that for >2 years.
… and I was really happy when I heard that the negotiations about the prolongation of my current contract allready had started.
Next year is going to be tuff in Germany.
My sister works in automobile industry and at the moment I am not joking about their situation, cause she would hang up the phone immediatedly.
I am very sad to hear this– for you, and for your company! It will not be the same, but at least you can follow the blogosphere. Hang in there. i hope it gets better.
Yeah, that blows!! Aber es gibt ja dann Lotusphere 2010!!!
Bad news Ulrich. After ILUG, I was looking forward seeing you again. I’m pretty sure there will be more ‘cuts’ too, due to this recession.
Let me know if I can do/see/buy anything at LS for you.
Too bad. Well, my company is a large concrete manufacturer and unfortunately all my trips in 2009, at least first two quarters have been cancelled. Hopefully i can make it to collaboration university.
maybe LS2010 again 🙂
